The recipient simply writes out a message, poem, declaration or any other message they would like to send into space, and submits it along with their address information as directed in the Gift Box instructions. Gift registration can be done both online and through the mail.
The message will be sent to a North American space broadcast center where it will be encoded into a suitable transmission format, and then sent into space through a laser telescope. Some experts predict that messages like this could remain detectable for over 1000 years or maybe even forever!
